The widow of acclaimed author Pat Conroy, Cassandra resides in Beaufort, South Carolina, where she is honorary chair of the Pat Conroy Literary Center. Brian Hicks is a journalist and the author of multiple books about historical events, including Ghost Ship and Raising the Hunley. A senior writer with The Post and Courier, he has won more than a dozen journalism awards, including the South Carolina Press Association's award for Journalist of the Year.
