2024 Timrod Lecture Series: Sleeping with the Ancestors “How Did the Simple Act of Spending a Night in a Slave Cabin Become a Book?” is the question authors Herb Frazier and Joseph McGill will address Feb. 4 to open the 2024 Timrod Lecture Series. Mr. Frazier and Mr. McGill are the authors of Sleeping with the Ancestors: How I Followed the Footprints of Slavery. They are also the creators of The Slave Dwelling Project, which works toward building a truthful and inclusive narrative of the history of the nation that honors the contributions of all Americans. Much of their work is connected to the buildings and artifacts of people of African heritage and inspires all Americans to acknowledge their ancestors. The event begins at 1 p.m. at the Timrod Library and will be followed by a reception and book signing. Admission is free, but space is limited so registration is required. Reserve your seat by calling the Timrod Library at 843-871-4600 or visiting the Library at 217 Central Ave. The authors appear courtesy of the SC Humanities Speakers Bureau.
